The Great Mustache Debate
Remember back in the 80s–
When you got a job it was for life (I am told repeatedly by my father). And life meant life: it meant security, a regular source of income, and clocking in. It meant busting yourself to reach targets, but being rewarded with the kind of…Well…Rewards few in the modern age can dream of. This was how it went: You started work after school—who needs a degree?—and then you went straight in to good old fashioned back-breaking hard-graft. The days and weeks passed and you went from boy to man, with quite a sore back, but you could overlook that, of course. Along the way you grew a ridiculous mustache, obtained an equally ridiculous filo-fax and had several children. That used to be the way it was…And it was considered normal…
But alas companies these days aren’t so willing to give you a job for life. They might consider giving you a job for the summer, but turn up with a mustache and a filo-fax and you can kiss that work goodbye (unless you work as a door-to-door salesmen, in which that kind of ominous behaviour will be greatly encouraged). Now, I’m not sure where Enigin stand on the great mustache debate, but I do know this: they want to employ people for the long-term, which goes hand-in-hand with their long-term goals (not the smallest and easiest solved goals in the world, and that’s what makes them worthy).
This attitude to employers is refreshing. And not only do Enigin possess the ethos to provide a stable relationship for both employer and employee, but they possess the backbone required to do great things to help the environment.
