What this World Would be Like Without Poverty

There are currently over a billion people in the world living off less than a dollar a day. But oddly enough, it is an issue that most people ignore, thinking that it is a futile pursuit that can never be solved. Perhaps they’re right. Perhaps if the poverty could be solved than it would be solved. Perhaps having the extremely rich and desolately poor is what keeps the global economy in check. But let’s imagine a world that didn’t have poverty; a world where people were equal in terms of financial capabilities and opportunities.
To begin with, the world would look a lot different than it is, and the nations that are currently the wealthiest would likely not remain that way (No more designer bathroom accessories for the west). Since these one billion people living off a dollar a day live in Africa and Asia, it is likely we would see a much different power structure, perhaps with China and India on the top of that list.
With the end of poverty comes the end of disease, famine, and (in a lot of places) the end of war. Take for example many African nations, specifically in the Northwest of the continent. With the end of poverty, political turmoil would be relieved; genocide would likely make way for coalitions and bi-border treaties. Balance and order would surely follow.
Would the long arm of the American empire reach all corners of the world? Unlikely. With poor nations finding balance and security, the influence of the US would surely lighten. Nations would become independent and self-sufficient; no longer reliant on the “charity” of the rich and powerful nations of the world.
Indeed, it is a dream that poverty will ever come to an end. Those with the power strive to keep it and those without it only dream of having it.
