In its day, the Nintendo Gameboy had a great selection of titles. It was amazing just how big some of these games actually were. When you think about something like ‘Super Mario Land’ or ‘Donkey Kong Country’ they were impressively large for such a tiny game cartridge.
Another huge adventure to complete was ‘Zelda: Link’s Awakening’. I think that most owners of Gameboys owned this game at one time or another and if not, they will certainly have played it. The Zelda series has always been incredibly popular and ‘Link’s Awakening’ was no exception. It was a monster of a game to complete and I spent weeks getting through it all.
The best thing about the Zelda releases is there is always so much to do. You do not merely have a quest to fulfil; you will also have many sub-quests to tackle as well. And the more of these you finish the better, as they will normally result in a really cool reward.
Zelda games are normally full of secrets to discover as well. These might be anything from a money bag that has been placed in an obscure location to an entire secret sub-level that is brimming over with extra goodies.
Nintendo are bound to continue releasing Zelda adventures for many years; and so they should! Zelda titles may be a totally different bag to Mario or Donkey Kong, but they are just as much fun to play. Each new Nintendo console to emerge will be accompanied by at least one of these fine adventures!
I think I have a solution everyone will agree upon for what we should put together for Peter and Susan’s engagement party. We should book some time at three valleys ski as a surprise, you all know that it is the place where they met, how amazing would that be? And a good time for the rest of us to boot!
